My life story is so long, a lot to tell, I even don't know where to start. Mainly, it is because we have a rare, mystery and horrible genetic disease happened in our family. This disease is called MELAS (I had already written the long name in my previous blog), it a kind of mitochondria-disorder diseases. When the mitochondria are not functioning properly, an "energy crisis" can develop in tissues such as muscle, brain and heart, which normally are heavy energy consumers. This genetic disease is passed from the mother to her child via mtDNA, men do not, therefore, it happens in my mother-side family.

It is hard to trace back to many generations, for sure, my mother’s mother had it, my mother (she is 80 this year) has it, I have MELAS, unfortunately, my daughter passed away in 2002 with MELAS, she was 14. My younger brother just passed away with MELAS last December. In the meantime, in our family, my mother, me, my son (13), my youngest sister have MELAS, but we have different level of symptoms developed.

Due to the MELAS, I am sick from head to toes, such as muscles-weakness, muscle-pain, poor-vision, deaf, osteoporosis, diabetes---, you name it. Anyway, I will continue to tell everybody more about my life story later the days.

Since I should write a blog as a diary, I should write something updated. Today was a nice day in here (capital of Canada), sunny, the temperature was around zero in the mid-day, snow was melting. I hope the ground hound was right, Spring should be here soon. I didn’t go out in the morning, but I still went to the computer class in the afternoon. (I will tell you more about me).

first blog

Hi, I am Joyce in Canada. This is my frist blog. I am a housewife, no need to go to work everyday, but I have to take care of my husband and my son, also have to do housework. My life story is a long one, I have a lots to say. Since this is the first blog, I don't prepare to write a lot, in the future, I will tell everybody about my life story.

Actually, I had already written two books about my life story. The first one was published in 2003 which I wrote the story of my daughter, she passed away in 2002 at 14 years old. Unfortunately, we have a very rare, mystery and horrible genetic disease happened in our family, it is called MELAS, Mitochodrial Encephalopathy Lactic Acidosis and Stroke, it is a kind of Mitochondria Disorder Disease. This book was called "Melas Angels", it was written in the memory of my daughter, this book had Chinese version and English version.

The other book was published in 2005 which was my true life story. Since I had a miserable life, I wanted to write down what I experienced. This book was called "Miserable Life", it had only Chinese version. I wish to re-write it in English someday, but I don't have money to publish it.

Life is tough. I always have a lot to say, complain. Anyway, English is my second language, pardon my spellings and gramma. I hope I can write something to tell everybody everyday.
